IBM Builds A ‘Flashing Pedestrian Crossing’ To Emphasize Crosswalk Safety
By Sarah Lee, 20 Dec 2012
IBM, together with creative agency Ogilvy and Mather, teamed up with Dutch children to help build a ‘flashing pedestrian crossing’ in Netherlands.
The issue of road safety was a concern as many cars do not stop at crosswalks, so IBM implemented a child’s idea to create a flashing pedestrian crossing as an experiment.
When someone steps on the crossing, it lights up, making it more visible to drivers—emphasizing the importance of allowing pedestrians to cross.
A billboard about the child’s idea was also posted, displaying an innovative message of changing the way we think and ‘Building a Smarter Planet’.
